With shows like Stranger Things and the rise of the ever popular live play show "Critical Role" bringing Dungeons and Dragons back into the spotlight. Which is why there's been some buzz around what the new title that would be releasing in March would be. There was some speculation about it being a new source book for the Forgotten Realms setting, especially with a new dice set coming around the same time called "Laeral Silverhand's Exlorer's Kit." Guilty. I thought it was going to be that.
So imagine my surprise when what we're actually getting for a new title, while not Forgotten Realms, is an official source book from Critical Role: "Explorer's Guide to Wildemount."
What's cool about this, is that the world Matthew Mercer has created for his players in Critical Role has been recognized as canon for Wizards of the Coast. We saw a little bit of that with the appearance of Arkhan the Cruel in the "Descent into Avernus" module after his adventures with Vox Machina at the end of Campaign One of Critical Role.
If you're interested in adding a little Critical Role flair to your campaign, there is already a Critical Role: Tal'Dorei Campaign Setting that was released by a third party in 2017.
The "Explorer's Guide to Wildemount" officially releases March 17th, 2020 and is available for pre-order now.
