Pi Day is my favorite day for reasons involving food, but let's take a minute to refresh our brains about the mathematical constant, Pi.
According to piday.org, Pi day is celebrated on March 14 (3/14), which is the rounded version of Pi. As most of us have learned in grade school Pi or π is the mathematical symbol to present the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, which is approximately 3.14159.
Calculated approximations of Pi have been recorded since the time of Egyptians and Babylonians, but it wasn't until Greek mathematician Archimedes who first calculated Pi as 3.14.
Time.com states that, "Pi Day was officially recognized by Congress in 2009, and it’s inspired quirky and pun-filled celebrations..."
