Beck took the lo-fi sound of DIY indie rock to the Top 10 in 1994 with his slacker anthem "Loser." But his avant-pop palette extends well beyond the folk-rap beats and samples of that hit, encompassing everything from funk, soul and psychedelia to wild experiments with feedback, electronics, toy instruments and found sounds. All that plus his surreal lyrics made for an alt-pop sound that helped define the 90's and made Beck one of the most interesting musicians of his era.
Beck won the 2015 Grammy for Album of the Year for his album Morning Phase and in October of 2017 he released his thirteenth studio album, Colors. A collaboration with Greg Kurstin, known for his work most recently with artists like Adele, Kendrick Lamar and the Foo Fighters, Colors received positive reviews, with Rolling Stone calling the album “utterly fresh” and “essential.” Beck’s single “Up All Night” reached No. 1 on Billboard’sAlternative Songs Airplay chart December 16, 2017.
